“FLESH/SPIRIT, SUN/STEEL” is a visualization of the interpreted story of Icarus by Yukio Mishima in his essay Sun and Steel. The essay describes his journey of seeking perfect and meaningful death through sunlight and pain sensation by bodybuilding, which eventually concludes all of his ideas in the poem of Icarus; the story of a man who fled too close to the sun and melted away his waxen wings, died in failure(?) to achieve the goal. It’s the choice of sitting there in the dark and slowly dying like those who got lost in the labyrinth,... or fly.
