‘Dreams Come True Pawnshop’ is an experimental short film regarding an eccentric pawnshop where 'dreams and souls' of youth could be exchanged for the socially acceptable ones. This short film reveals the effects of the conventional social norms and expectations which have a huge impact on limiting young people from what they can become or even what they dream of becoming. Thus, in order to grow up and serve these norms and expectations, young people have to sacrifice parts of their soul to become an ideal for current society. Together with the visual direction inspired by the culture of generation z, this film is intended to encourage and give youth a glimpse of hope in what they believe and stand for. Nevertheless, this film would like to question our society: is it time to stop this kind of belief? How many more dreams and souls have to be left dying behind in this pawnshop?
