You may wonder why is wearing clothes from another culture sometime considered inappropriate? Or why do people care so much about cultural appropriation when it is just fashion? Cultural appropriation is a complex but widely discussed topic. It is a constantly evolving issue, defined differently by each group of individuals based on factors such as their background, cultures, knowledge, regions, and environment.
This zine ‘Frontier : a fine line between cultural appreciation and appropriation in fashion’ will help us better understand this complex issue. Frontier zine presents opinions of selected people from different cultures, using fashion as an approachable starting point. Even this zine cannot represent all sides of the whole argument, hopefully it can be useful as a fundamental guide for us to appreciate cultures in a better way.
