“Sathu 99 (Sathu Gaogao)” is a game design project inspired by the dream interpretation of numbers in Thai lottery buying culture. Using the card game, the players will be exposed to the basic concept of this culture with the game's mechanics and situation. They will get a chance to interpret the collaged visual from the 90 Dream cards into numbers using the summarized traditional techniques in the culture, provided in the game, apply a new meaning from the 20 NEWS, and decipher group contexts from the discussion. The game serves as a creative alternative media that will communicate another fun side of the number interpretation culture, outside the superstitious portrayal from the mainstream media. It will reflect the human tendency to rationalize the interpretations while allowing players to understand how this culture provides entertainment and emotional control without becoming obsessed with lottery numbers. The younger generation can also relate to this moral by reflecting on themselves to be prepared for future superstitious beliefs and culture in their generation.
