The disconnection between younger generations of diaspora Chinese-Thai descendants and their ancestors, in terms of cultural heritage and familial relationships, is a result of the success of Thaification and modernization over the past several decades.

"安 /ān/" is an illustrated book that archives and shares the stories of the author's long-lost female relatives, whom she re-discovered through food and re-familiarized with through her drawing. The book explores how the cooking of women in her family has held the family together from generation to generation. Additionally, the author observed and reflected upon gender roles, intergenerational dynamics, and cultural diversity within her Chinese-Thai family.
