Kids on the autistic spectrum are not different from other kids, they only experience challenges with social interaction and communication. It can be difficult to step inside the mindset of an autistic person at first glance. In order to truly empathize with the perspective of someone on the spectrum, we have to understand the root of their experiences by going through something similar.

Autism’s Paradise’ uses ‘experience design’ as a bridge to create understanding between audiences and autistic people. In this space, participants will be able to interact with the autistic experience, by using dreamscape visualizations that interpret their inner feelings and project it into the space.

A common component of autistic spectrum disorders is ‘Sensory Overload,’ which causes one or more of the senses to experience too much, and can be painful. Audiences will interact with the project through noise, touch, and sight, and hopefully be able to relate better to autistic people. When audiences interact with the space, the visual in the space will change according to the interactions of each participant.
