Can Traditional Thai Desserts "thrive" in the contemporary Thai Society of today?
Thai Dessert has a mysterious and exotic origin story that enthuses me to dig into, but more than that I intend to recreate, reinterpret, and reintroduce the content that entertain and inspire people using visual narrative to “celebrate” Thai Dessert in a modern way.
Kanom Thai is a mixture of cultures and it has survived throughout time, influenced from cultural exchange to adaptation, continually through the change of time. My goal for telling this story is to "celebrate" the glorious and beautiful culture behind Thai desserts and create interest among dessert lovers into changing their perspective and be impressed with the Thai desserts. They may also spread the message to inspire more people into admiring the splendid Thai artistry with the joy of “Pleasing People and Receiving Pleasure”.
An animation using illustrations and motion collages introduces audiences to the journey of the three rare, selected masterpieces from different backgrounds combined into one continuous scene.
This motion collage is made up of pictures from murals in Thai temples and vintage western books, combined with vintage, retro, modern, and futuristic sounds to create the collage animation to give the audience a glimpse into a chapter of the journey of Thai desserts, The Edible Story.
