Work Process

Design and Structure Experiments

This project started with researching Third Culture Kids and culture in general. I wanted to inform people about the growing number of multicultural identities. After visual, structural, and design experimentations (shown on the right), I worked towards the final outcome, an experimental publication depicting me and my twin’s story which informs people about TCKs. After finalising the design, the production process began. With the type of paper chosen, I had to decide on the binding technique. I decided to use the exposed binding, which reflects the “patchwork” nature of TCK identities: a combination of many cultures in one person. After the binding and paper was chosen, the production process of the final product began.
